Practical Project Management

This is a 24-hour course over 3 days designed to teach participants the basic principles of good project management. Participants will learn how to identify and schedule project resources, create project schedules and produce critical path planning and evaluation reports. These learning objectives are reinforced by a course project that allows participants to apply the principles and use the tools introduced in the class.

Key Elements of Project Management, Project Initiation Plan Development, and Work Breakdown Structure
· Identify the difference between Project Management and a Project
· Understand the 3 required disciplines for a successful project
· Understand the “Project Life Cycle”
· Create a Project Charter/Project Brief
· Create a Project Management Plan
· Use the Affinity Method of Creating a WBS
· Create a WBS
· Estimate Durations
Project Life Cycle: Scheduling, Delivery, Control, and Closure
· Identify Skills and Resources needed for Activities/Task
· Create a Project Budget from the WBS
· Identify Task Relationships
· Network Task
Project Timeline Management and
Applying Tools
· Create a Project Schedule
· Optimize Project Schedule using the Critical Path Method
· Control Projects
· Develop Project Closure Lessons Learned
